Animal Feed Plant Cargill Crop Nutrition, Riverview, FL
A grass-roots animal feed plant capable of producing 150,000 tpy of dicalcium or monocalcium phosphate animal feed designed by KEMWorks is in operation near Tampa, Florida. Feed phosphate is a supplement for most animal feed, providing the necessary phosphorus to the animal's diet. The plant uses process technology from KEMWorks/JSA.
The animal feed is produced from limestone and defluorinated phosphoric acid. The animal feed must contain a ratio of phosphate to fluorine of greater than 100:1 and to achieve this the phosphoric acid must be defluorinated. The plant uses an air-stripping system for defluorination which consumes far less energy than conventional steam stripping or evaporation processes.
Project Highlights:
- The plant was designed and constructed within 18 months and produced on-spec product within 24 hours of start-up.
- The plant capacity has been recently doubled.
