Great Lakes Chemicals FM 200 Plant will produce very pure anhydrous HCl that  will normally be sold as food grade HCl solution. To allow the FM 200 plant to continue to operate independently of the market for HCl solution, GLCC will install a neutralization system to receive the HCl solution and neutralize the solution using 50% NaOH caustic soda solution and water. KEMWorks provided Basic Engineering for the system including:

• caustic storage tank with an internal tank heater and a caustic supply pump.
• brine tank and recirculation pump in a curbed area,  a sump and sump pump in that same curbed area.
• brine cooler.
• static mixers, one for mixing caustic with the recirculated brine solution, and one for mixing the HCl with the brine solution.
