Animal Feed Plant

KEMWorks supplied technology to Serrana de Mineracao, located in Cajati, Brazil to upgrade their granulation plant to produce 190,000 mtpy of dicalcium phosphate for use as an animal feed ingredient. The plant will consist of a grinding system for limestone, scrubbers, and materials handling equipment. The key feature of the technology is the SPINDEN Reactor. The SPINDEN, licensed from JS Associates, is a high-speed mixer that agglomerates solid raw materials with a minimum amount of liquid phase, resulting in a very low recycle ratio. The standard equipment, which has a special flexible casing, permits the agglomeration of thixotropic phosphate compounds which are common to both fertilizers and animal feed products.

While the plant was scheduled for a start-up in March of '98, basic engineering for a further 25% expansion was also started by KEMWorks.
